Bogus Check

A C&M Client was charged with:  Obtaining Property by Trick or Deception – Attempt – False Representation or Pretense – Confidence Game – Penalty.  The DA wanted a conviction, her recommendation:  1 year suspended sentence (conviction).  A conviction on a bogus check charge could have hurt her job prospects in the future.

We urged our client to reject the offered plea agreement; she accepted my counsel and judge agreed that a deferred sentence was more appropriate.  Now, if she has no violations for two years, the case will be dismissed.
